Throw a little 70's funked-up wah-wah guitar, a groovy backbeat, some catchy melodies, and a Jamiroquai-esque vocalist into a blender and what do you get? Frognot—a Dallas, Texas alternative groove rock band that has been together since 1996. The band consists of Dennis Leonard on lead vocals, guitar, congas, violin (and probably anything else he wants); Ken Allen on guitar and vocals; Brian Starustka on bass and vocals; and April Samuels on drums and vocals. This group of seasoned diverse musicians took their name from a real town in Texas. Founded in 1995, Simon Stinger wields a mighty sword of brain-stickin' melodies reminiscent of 80's New Wave Alternative, edgy guitar riffs, and a vocalist who can knock the bindi off Gwen Stefani. This Concord, California band is fronted by singer Alicia Perrone and features Victor James on bass, Patrick Rezac on guitar, and Eric Oushani on drums. Their 1996 debut 7" vinyl release received airplay from over 150 college radio stations, while their follow-up 1997 CD received airplay nationwide, and after a listen to their brand new CD, we predict this one will be infiltrating the world way beyond the radio medium. Look for the band to appear in the upcoming Miramax film "Diamonds" and the indie film "Permanent Thunder".
